Jane's warming cacao recipe
“How do you make this cacao Jane? I want to be able to make this at home”
Warming Cacao Recipe
Make it super special by using home made nut mylk and lace it with spices and superfeast adaptogens.
Lots of you asked about my warming cacao at move + connect so I thought I’d share it here. The ratios below are for 1 serving, but you might like more or less of some things, keeping tasting till it’s to your liking!
Warming Cacao Recipe
Heaped teaspoon Cacao powder (I got mine from Grounded Store and Tonic Bar *
1/4 teaspoon ceylon cinnamon
1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon chosen adaptogen (I used shen)
1 cup nut mylk - I used cashew mylk (recipe below) you could also use store bought dairy free milk, just get a good quality one that doesn’t have too many additives.
Sweeten to your liking with coconut sugar, maple or honey
Put ingredients into a pot and stir continuously on low heat till it gently starts to simmer. Pour into a special mug, maybe sprinkle some cacao and cinnamon on top, enjoy a quiet moment or connect with someone and enjoy.
Cashew Mylk recipe
Soak cashews ( quantity depends on how much you want to make) by covering them with filtered water for an hour or two or overnight. You can speed this process up by covering with boiling water.
Drain the water and place into a blender with filtered water ( 1 part nuts, 2 parts water or more depending how thick you want it)
Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
And a pinch or two of salt
Blend until smooth and voilá, you have a rich and creamy nut mylk which is perfect for cacaos and many other things.
Note: You can add sweetener when making nut mylk or cinnamon depending on your liking.
*Grounded Store is online and your one-stop shop for superfeast products and many other amazing items that support your well-being including the magnesium and aloe spray I so lovingly sprayed on your feet at move + connect. Us lucky Nelsonians can also go into their physical store which is behind the Junction Cheese Shop in the Connings Complex. The staff are super knowledgable and can help you find the right products to suit your needs.
I’m a huge fan of Superfeast products. I’d be happy to share my experience with them and my favourite products, just get in touch. The key to getting the benefits of these products is to take them little and often.
